Are you ready for the Prime day?

Prime day is the day when it is possible, for those with an Amazon Prime subscription, to purchase many products at lower prices. An opportunity for the shopper, but also for sellers and brands. Companies have to be ready to respond to the shoppers’ wishes, both in terms of assortment and availability. But what are the most desired products? Who will buy them? A research by Numerator TrueWiev suggests what to expect for the Prime day of 21-22 June.

2021 is confirming to be a year characterized by the increasing use of Amazon around the world. Compared to 2018, sales of consumer goods on Amazon grew by 3.9%, and this trend shows no signs of slowing down.

Prime day further feeds consumer attention to the big marketplace, increasing traffic on the platform and accelerating online sales by five times.

It is possible to identify different segments of the population who buy on Amazon. Still, the generation that buys most during Prime day is that of the Millenials: in fact, it is expected to increase 4.3% in purchases.

In 2020, influenced by Covid-19, Amazon sales increase 14.8% during Prime day.

In the last year, people have shown to be highly interested in their self-care and well-being, which translates into greater demand for beauty & healthcare products. The need for this category has grown in all major e-commerce, but on Amazon, there is the most significant increase: 2.5% in 2020. Therefore, companies active in these sectors must be prepared to face increased demand during Prime day, with a correct strategy that embraces the variables of availability, assortment, promotional pricing, and advertising.

The graph proposed by Numerator TrueWiev underlines the extent of the phenomenon and how important it is for companies to take care of the digital shelf to face the out-of-stock products. The Prime day effect can no longer be ignored; most of the population know what it is, and 64% say they want to make at least one purchase.
